In a move aimed at fixing what it describes as “a broken system,” the Council of Fashion Designers of America is getting behind a movement to turn the twice-yearly fashion shows into a consumer-facing rather than industry event by presenting in-season collections that are already in the stores.

 

Generation Z, the teens and tweens coming of age today, are not just another Millennial story. Far from it. They are more self-aware, more self-reliant and more driven than the generation they follow. Intuitively innovative, uberproductive, goal-oriented and realistic, they are growing to be savvy consumers.

The retail industry is more active on Twitter than most industries.

According to a retail index released by SocialRank today gauging retailers’ Twitter followings and engagement, 58.1 percent of retailers tweeted in the last 90 days, a figure that puts them behind the 63.6 percent of technology start-ups that have recently tweeted, but ahead of the 49.8 percent of leading global brands, 54.7 percent of technology media firms and 50.8 percent of technology companies that have tweeted lately.
