What a show! Recently the press reports that most shoppers, especially the Millennials, were spending all their disposable dollars on technology, rather than fashion. From the trends coming for S/S 2015, I believe we’ll see the sunshine behind that cloudy forecast.  The offerings at the WWDMAGIC booths were filled with items and collections that lured buyers in, placing orders that they seemed assured would attract the attention of wayward techno-shoppers. I attribute this success to designers paying close attention to well executed details, trims, novelty textiles and prints, and inviting silhouettes. Here’s what caught my attention:

  1. Short (culottes) coordinates; 3D florals, jacquards, pin-tucks, lace trims
  2. Floral and geometric enlarged eyelets filled most of the isles
  3. Enlarged lace floral stretch lace and lace trim
  4. Chemise tanks, dusty rose being a color of choice of buyers
  5. Denim jackets
  6. 1960’s shift dresses
  7. Metallic drawstring shorts
  8. Babydoll lingerie tops; flowing chiffon ruffled peplums
  9. 1970’s YSL Moroccan prints of choice in sheer paisley
  10.  Home inspired '60s abstract textile prints; shorts jumpsuit

Brands To Note: JOA , Free People, Harlyn and BB Dakota

What first caught our attention at INDAH swimwear was the line of buyers waiting to see their collection. As we stepped into the booth we quickly saw why the buyers wanted to see the well-curated collection of swimwear and beach collection.

"We take pride in our designs and the lifestyle we project with our collections.  Every inch of the fabric, dyes, prints, craftsmanship gives something unique. The variety is fantastic!" – Amy Hodel, INDAH Marketing Director manager

Swim Trends to Note on the Show Floor:

  1. '80s power prints: New wave, geo shapes, splatter paints
  2. Mesh (with motifs incorporated into mesh such as stars and lips)
  3. Exposed cutouts high sides
  4. Cropped tops (fashionable-inspired rash guards)
  5. Fringed everything
  6. Wrapping bodice spaghetti straps
  7. Metallic aren’t just for night; gold foil, rose gold colored zippers
  8. Lifestyle dresses
  9. Hand woven crochet "crochet diamond halter maxi"
  10. Neoprene bikinis with crochet detailing and long fringe
