Behind the Brand: A Studio Visit with Rinat Brodach

Behind the Brand: A Studio Visit with Rinat Brodach

Rinat Brodach’s studio is a small, white, clean space in the garment district. It is unassuming and to the point.  Mannequins draped with different weighted fabric, a sketching table covered with grocery lists (taco meat, T- Pins, windex) and pieces from her past collections carefully hang against the wall are the only focal points of the room. “I don’t like distractions” she says “I get most of my work done on Sundays because no one calls me.  In Israel everyone works on Sundays, so I kind of have an extra day!”

Rinat’s designs are grounded in a curiosity of the movement and draping of fabric. Most of her collection is draped and very little of it is sketched out. Her designs are forward without being unapproachable. Complex without being uncomfortable. Her work stems from her extensive training in draping, drawing the eye beyond the fabric to the sensuality of the women underneath. Her color pallets are minimal and straight forward and her attention to detail is spectacular.  As she takes each garment off the hanger for us to feel and try, they take on new forms and come to life.

Scroll through the images below for an inside look at her studio and her garments and help us in welcoming Rinat Brodach to Coterie and PROJECT WOMEN'S.
